Student Disability Services & the IEP Process

The initial experience for parents of a child who is referred for the special education eligibility process can be downright scary and intimidating. When a student is diagnosed with a disability, unfortunately high levels of frustration, confusion and contention amongst families, schools, and districts can ensue. But, it does not have to be this way!

Our consultants have extensive knowledge and experience leading transformational change related to supporting students with disabilities. We have been successful by embracing a philosophy of inclusion, regardless of diagnosed disability. When it comes to the IEP and 504 process, we’ve seen it all, and we will help you to lead with confidence so that you can best support your child’s needs.

Whether we join you at your child’s IEP meeting or simply provide coaching “behind the scenes” to prepare you for IEP or 504 meetings, we’ll help you become an expert and a collaborative advocate to ensure your child is set up for an inclusive and meaningful educational experience throughout their academic career.

Family Coaching & Consulting

We provide ongoing coaching & consultation sessions with families to help them move past the “stuck” moments throughout their child’s educational career. We work with you to identify the reasons for any struggles or conflict, craft a strategic intervention plan to address these struggles, and proactively monitor levels of progress on a consistent basis. Some of our services include:

  • goal setting & strategic planning

  • strategies for effective & consistent student output at home and school

  • specialized at-home programming for specific student needs

Academic Support & Coaching for Caregivers

Have you had any of the following thoughts as a parent of a child in school?

  • “They don’t teach math how I learned it in school”

  • “I can’t help my child with online work when I can’t even access the sites”

  • “My child is struggling to read (or write, etc) but I’m not sure how to help”

The entire teaching & learning process has changed substantially in the last 20 years! While you may feel helpless at times, you are not alone; it is extremely common for parents to struggle to help reinforce skills and concepts at home due to changes in pedagogy.

Fortunately, our team of consultants include math & literacy coaches, teachers, and administrators. We can help teach you the concepts, the skills, and the approach so that you can confidently support your child’s academic progress at home.

Caregiver Support Groups

Caregivers! You are the heroes!

Your tireless efforts of love, care, and support do not go unnoticed by your children (though they may seem to at times!)

But, it is unfair - and unhealthy - to navigate your child’s entire school career without support. And, although we have an extremely talented team of consultants (who are parents, too!) who can help you navigate stumbling blocks, we also believe in the power of peer support groups.
